About Me

Phoebe Burrill Parkinson (b.2004) is a multidisciplinary artist from Leeds, West Yorkshire. Who has currently completed her Bachelors in the Fine Arts with a first class honours. Phoebe is best known for her monumental suspended field paintings, inspired by Walter Benjamin’s writings on mechanical reproduction and his theory of aura.

Working primarily as a painter, her practice is grounded in meditating and observing nature. Finding inspiration in the light, colour, and naturally occuring fractal patterns. This process translates into her use of colour and form.

 

Working predominantly in gouache, Phoebe embraces the medium’s fluidity to soak stain raw canvas. The spontaneous surfaces provide a base in which she incorporates form and  methodical geometric compositions. She sketches using traditional mathematical instruments, before hand-painting opaque geometric shapes.
